Elegant English 18th century country chair with great back splat, later made into a rocking chair. The carvings are influenced by French craftsmen crossed over after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. Many Dutch, Flemish and French craftsmen were working in England during the time, resulting in significantly improved furniture quality. This chair is an example of such an influence.
